Celebrating National Pet Day with Our Furred and Finned Friends!

National Pet Day is here, and what better way to celebrate than by giving extra love to our beloved companions? In our home, we’re lucky to share life with two energetic Papillons, one fascinating axolotl, and three mischievous cats—each with their own unique personality and quirks.
The Papillon Pair: Small but Mighty!
Papillons are known for their butterfly-like ears and boundless energy, and our two pups certainly live up to the breed’s reputation! Whether they’re racing around the house, showing off their agility skills, or curling up for a cuddle, these little dogs bring so much joy to our daily lives. Teddy the Tiny Tornado loves to steal shoes, socks, and kisses! He loves toys and can play fetch for hours! Tori Girl is all about solving treat puzzles and terrorizing her big brother. We make sure they get lots of enrichment with toys from Chewy and BarkBox. I swear they can read well enough to know when the packages arrive from their favorite places!
The Axolotl: A Magical Underwater Companion
Axolotls might not be the first pet that comes to mind when you think of companionship, but Princess Bubbles is a true delight! With a perpetual smile and frilly gills, this little amphibian is a fascinating and low-maintenance friend. Watching her float serenely in her tank is always a calming experience. She loves to be read to and to watch me cook. Bubbles makes the funniest faces, and you can tell what each one means! We keep her engaged with conversation, reading books to her (Gerald and Piggie are her favorites), and getting new enrichment decor for her tank. So far, the Christmas tree is her favorite.
The Feline Trio: Ruling the Household
What started out as my daughter saving a kitten has turned into a clowder of cats! They definitely rule the house and keep our lives very interesting. Our three cats each have distinct personalities—whether it’s Scout the playful troublemaker, Ollie the aloof observer, or Thor the snuggly lap-cat, they add an extra layer of love (and chaos) to the mix. Between cat naps, zoomies, and the occasional stolen food attempt, life with them is never boring. No cups are safe if they are in their reach!
Celebrating Our Pets Every Day
National Pet Day is a perfect reminder to appreciate the animals that fill our homes with love, laughter, and a little bit of mayhem. Whether you have a furry, feathery, or scaly companion, today is all about spoiling them just a little extra—maybe with treats, playtime, or extra cuddles! Pets bring joy to our lives with their sweet selves!
